Chicken

  • Buttermilk 600.0 ml
  • Chicken thigh fillets, trimmed 1.0 kg
  • Plain flour 300.0 g
  • Dried oregano 2.0 g
  • Onion powder 5.0 g
  • Garlic powder 2.0 g
  • Ground white pepper 3.0 g
  • Sweet paprika 2.0 g

Sauce

To Assemble

  • Burger buns 10.0 x
  • Baby cos lettuce, roughly chopped 2.0 x
  • Red onions, sliced 2.0 x
  • Roma tomato, sliced 3.0 x
  • Dill pickles, thinly sliced 400.0 g
  • Slices American cheese 10.0 x

The chicken in this burger is marinated in buttermilk, giving it an extra-succulent texture and flavour. Marinate for as long as possible, overnight is preferable. The dried herbs are a combination of classic southern fried chicken seasonings.

Preparation

  1. Chicken

    • Place the buttermilk in a large bowl and add the chicken thigh fillets. Mix until fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for 6 hours or overnight. 
    • Combine flour with all herbs and spices in a large bowl and season. Drain the chicken from the buttermilk and toss it in the flour mixture to coat. 
    • Deep-fry chicken pieces until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on a paper towel.
  2. Sauce

    • Mix KNORR American Chipotle BBQ Sauce GF with HELLMANN’S Real Mayonnaise until fully combined.
  3. To Assemble

    • Split and lightly toast burger buns. 
    • Spread both sides of each bun with the prepared sauce. Top with lettuce, onion, tomato, pickles, chicken, and cheese.
  4. To Serve

    • Serve accompanied with chips and coleslaw.
