Lasagne

Always a popular year-round meal, this lasagne is easy to prepare for all IDDSI levels, with Knorr Italiana Pronto Napoli Gluten Free providing bursts of tomato flavour.

Lasagne

Ingredients

All levels

50ml Olive oil
700g Beef mince
100g Onion, finely chopped
10g Garlic, crushed
10g Dried mixed herbs
250g Knorr Italiana Pronto Napoli Gluten Free
25g Knorr Vegetable Booster Gluten Free
400ml Milk
40g Knorr Roux
750g Tasty cheese, grated
400g Pizza cheese, grated
800g Cooked lasagne sheets
300g Frozen peas, steamed

125g* / 185g** Knorr Potato Flakes Gluten Free
300g Steamed carrots

Methods

Lasagne

  • Prepare the Bolognese mixture. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add mince and onion and cook for 5 minutes until browned. Add garlic, mixed herbs, Knorr Italiana Pronto Napoli Gluten Free and 20g Knorr Vegetable Booster Gluten Free. Simmer over medium heat for 20-25 minutes until reduced. Remove from heat and keep warm.
  • Make béchamel cheese sauce. Heat milk in a saucepan over medium heat. When simmering, add 5g Knorr Vegetable Booster Gluten Free and Knorr Roux. Whisk until combined and smooth, then stir through tasty cheese. Continue stirring until cheese has melted and sauce is smooth. Cover and keep warm.

Levels 7 - 6

Lasagne

  • Assemble lasagne. Line a medium gastronome with a third of the cooked lasagne sheets. Spoon over half the Bolognese mixture then top with more lasagne sheets, remaining half of Bolognese mixture and a final layer of lasagne sheets. Pour over béchamel cheese sauce and sprinkle with grated pizza cheese.
  • Preheat oven to 170°C. Bake lasagne for 30-40 minutes until golden. We recommend covering the tray with foil before baking to ensure no hard crust is formed.

Level 5

Lasagne Mixture

  • Place 900g of the Bolognese mixture in a Robot-Coupe or blender with 100g Knorr Potato Flakes Gluten Free. Pulse for 1-2 minutes until soft and moist with no leaking or dripping from the spoon and the correct consistency for this IDDSI level is achieved. Transfer to a large bowl.
  • Rinse Robot-Coupe or blender. Place 500g of the cooked pasta with 100g of the béchamel cheese sauce. Pulse for 1-2 minutes until soft and moist with no leaking or dripping from the spoon.
  • To assemble, layer half the minced pasta into moulds, top with Bolognese mixture then remaining pasta mixture.

Vegetables

  • Place 300g of the steamed peas in a Robot-Coupe or blender with 10g Knorr Potato Flakes Gluten Free. Pulse for 30 seconds to 1 minute or until near smooth. Place into moulds.
  • Repeat with 300g of the steamed carrots and 15g Knorr Potato Flakes Gluten Free. Place into moulds.

Level 4

Lasagne Mixture

  • Place 900g of the Bolognese mixture in a Robot-Coupe or blender with 150g Knorr Potato Flakes Gluten Free. Pulse for 3-4 minutes until soft and moist with no leaking or dripping from the spoon and the correct consistency for this IDDSI level is achieved. Transfer to a large bowl.
  • Rinse Robot-Coupe or blender. Place 500g of the cooked pasta with 100g of the béchamel cheese sauce. Pulse for 3-4 minutes until pureed smooth with no leaking or dripping from the spoon.
  • To assemble, layer half the pureed pasta into moulds, top with Bolognese mixture then remaining pasta mixture.
  • Cool slightly and serve lasagne with warmed carrots and peas. Alternatively place lasagne and vegetables in fridge or freezer and reheat gently for service another day.

Vegetables

  • Place 300g of the steamed peas in a Robot-Coupe or blender with 20g Knorr Potato Flakes Gluten Free and 100ml water. Pulse for 1-2 minutes or until completely smooth. Place into moulds.
  • Repeat with 300g of the steamed carrots and 15g Knorr Potato Flakes Gluten Free, omitting water. Place into moulds.

To serve

Level 7

  • Cut lasagne into portions and serve with steamed vegetables.

Level 6

  • Carefully cut the lasagne into 1.5cm pieces, using a hot sharp knife to try and keep the serving together.
  • Serve with steamed peas and chopped carrots.

Level 5

  • Cool slightly and serve lasagne with warmed vegetables. Alternatively, place lasagne and vegetables in a fridge or freezer and reheat gently for service another day.

  • Cool slightly and serve lasagne with warmed vegetables. Alternatively, place lasagne and vegetables in a fridge or freezer and reheat gently for service another day.
