The classic Portuguese-style chicken burger is a benchmark menu item that diners use to judge a venue's food. The key to the burger here is the sauce, and the key to that is a quality mayo like HELLMANN'S Deli Mayonnaise. It's an excellent delivery vehicle for flavour and creates a moisture barrier to prevent the burger from getting soggy.

Preparation

  1. What you need

    • Select the number of serves you require for this recipe, and the quantity of ingredients will be automatically adjusted accordingly.
  2. Grilled Chicken

    • Butterfly the chicken breast by cutting each fillet in half along the middle and flattening slightly.
    • Toss the fillets with lemon juice, olive oil, and Peri-peri spice powder. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
    • Drain the chicken of its marinade, then cook on a hot plate or grill until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. To Assemble and Serve

    • Spread both sides of each burger bun with HELLMANN'S Deli Mayonnaise. Top with iceberg lettuce and grilled chicken. 
    • Serve immediately with hot chilli sauce for an extra hit, if preferred.
  4. Chef's Tip

    • You can also lightly toast the burger buns before assembly.
